Simplified Glyph Style


As you can see, the loss of initial radicals allows for more variation in glyph design. Imagination can assign ideographic correspondences to glyphs that are purely phonetic.

The possibility to reverse engineer these correspondences remains, at this point, largely unexplored. Some surprising coincidences have arisen, such as the cicular glyph for pap rice, grain, cereal – borrowed from Korean – which looks the part.
